NEW YORK - Feb. 10, 2003 - Week 2 of the Arena Football League on NBC Sunday delivered a 2.2 overnight rating/4 share for regional coverage (3:15-6 p.m. ET) of four high-scoring games, matching the overnight rating produced last Sunday for the network's inaugural coverage of the AFL, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The rating built from an opening 2.1/5 (3:15-3:30 p.m. ET) to peak at a 2.6/5 from 5:30-6 p.m. ET as Orlando held off Tampa Bay 54-51 and Los Angeles staged a dramatic comeback on its way to a 73-72 win over defending champion San Jose.

"We're encouraged by the fact that once viewers tune in, they stay tuned,"said Ken Schanzer, President, NBC Sports. "The AFL continues to meet our expectations with entertaining and well-played games and a base of interest which seems to be solidifying."

A total of 422 points (105.5 ppg) was scored in NBC's four regional telecasts. In addition to the Tampa Bay-Orlando "War on I-4," in which Jay Gruden (whose brother, Jon, Head Coach of the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Bucs, attended the game with Bucs star Warren Sapp) threw six TD passes; and the San Jose-Los Angeles shootout (which featured a thrilling final drive and a gutsy two-point conversion with one second left), Dallas defeated Chicago 46-38 and Arizona upended Las Vegas 46-42.

The AFL on NBC continues next Sunday, Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. ET with regional telecasts of four games, including Dallas at Orlando and Los Angeles at Colorado.
