West Texas Roughnecks News Release
Odessa, TX: Season three looks to be the best yet for the Roughnecks. With great growth in season ticket holders and corporate partners, the only area still needing work before today was on the field. Now, less than one month after announcing the departure of the previous coach, the Odessa Roughnecks have come to terms with the second head coach in franchise history. "We interviewed nearly a dozen candidates over the phone and flew in a few finalists for face to face meetings. We only considered prospects who were proven winners and at the top of their leagues. We believe we have secured the best possible man and coach for the job!", stated team president Tommy Benizio.
The Roughnecks will once again have one of the only, if not the only head coach in the league that will move to the team's city and become part of the community. "I loved what I saw during one of his trips to Odessa and I am certain that we have the right guy.", said interim coach Kenny Thompson, "I am confident that we will not skip a beat as we enter what I hope will be another undefeated season." Coach Thompson will remain on the staff as Assistant Head Coach.
While this new leader will be moving to Odessa at the end of the month, the team looks forward to introducing him at a press conference earlier in December. Members of the media can look forward to further details on the announcement and a few hints and coaching highlights in the coming days and weeks.
Though his name is not yet available, further information on this or any other topics can be obtained by calling the team's offices at (432) 332-PASS (7277) or by logging onto the Roughnecks website at www.RoughnecksIFL.com.
