North Iowa Outlaws News Release
On a night where the goaltenders stole the show, North Iowa Robby Moss played just a little better then Springfield's Phil Cook. The duo dazzled the 1,400+ fans at the Nelson Center in Springfield, IL as the Outlaws used a pair of goals from Bryant Skarda, combined with a Joe Harcharik strike to win 3-1. Moss turned asside 36 shots while Cook made 29 saves in the contest, keeping the score low and close.
Bryant Skarda intercepted a pass in the opening period and before Cook knew it, the puck was behind him in the net. In the second, Joe Harcharik pulled off a simalar play with Cook struggling to see the shot through traffic while North Iowa took a 2-0 lead after two periods. From that point, Cook stopped everything he saw, including a few odd man rushes where he stretched out to make some big saves and keep the Jr Blues in the game. In the final frame, Matt Larke flipped the lone shot that got passed Moss into the net to make the game close but a Bryant Skarda empty net goal sealed the deal with :41 seconds left as the Outlaws pulled within three points of clinching a Central Division Regular Season Championship.
