Feb. 8th is Pack the House Night sponsored by the Other Place in Clear Lake. Outlaws Strike a Deal with the Avalanche
The North Iowa Outlaws have struck a deal with the Alaska Avalanche, sending forwards Brooks DeZellar and Kyle Politz north for Kevin Anger and Larry Kincaid. The first place Outlaws looking to add another physical player with Kincaid and a solid defenseman in Anger, but had to give up two solid forwards in the process. The 5'11, 185 Kincaid leaves his hometown of Wasilla, where he spent a season and a half with the Avalanche. The physical forward tallied 14 goals in two seasons, and eight assists, but the big upside to Kincaid is his presence. In two seasons he's racked up 159 penalty minutes, including five fights. The Outlaws, who are known more for their offense, play very physical and the addition of Kincaid will add to an already strong checking line.
Anger, who started the year with the Southern Minnesota Express before being traded to Alaska, has four points on the season in 22 games. The forward from Eau Claire, WI adds size to the blue line. The 6'2, 200 lb defenseman gives North Iowa another experienced play in front of a solid goaltending trio. The Outlaws, currently first in the Central Division, are looking to remain perfect as they head on the road to Bismarck this weekend. North Iowa is perfect against the Cats this season, winning all 4 prior meetings, with four more games in a row including this weekend.
Mobley Becomes the All Time Leading Scorer
In an exciting win over the Fargo- Moorhead Jets, the Outlaws broke records and made their 8th straight win over the Jets. Max Mobley set the all-time scoring record, surpassing Steve McLeod with 118 points over three seasons. In goal, Matt Beggs picked up his second straight win with the Outlaws.
Mobley tied the record assisting on a Krystian Dziubinski goal that put North Iowa up 1-0 in the first period. In the second, Bryant Skarda struck for his 10th power play strike and team leading 19th on the season. The Lake Elmo, MN native is tied with St. Louis' Kyle O'Kane for the lead with 10 power play goals.
In the third, Mobley broke the record scoring on the rebound to give North Iowa a 3-0 lead, but the Jets fired back to make the game close. Mike Schumacher scored on the power play, and Mike Johnson added a questionable tally to make the game close but Matt Beggs came up big in goal for the second straight night to secure the victory. The second year goaltender from Apple Valley, MN made 34 saves for his second consecutive victory. The Outlaws host the Bismarck Bobcats Thursday and Saturday next weekend at the North Iowa Ice Arena.
