Outlaws to Pardon a Turkey During Wednesday's Game
November 25, 2008 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
North Iowa Outlaws News Release
Mason City (IA) As millions of Americans from coast to coast load up on white and dark meat this week, the North Iowa Outlaws will be making sure one bird doesn't find its way onto a carving station. During the first intermission of the Outlaws' home game on Wednesday night, one lucky bird will be receiving an official pardon for the holiday season.
"We figured that since the president pardons a turkey each year, Outlaws' Nation needs to pardon its own turkey as well" said Outlaws' general manager Steve Strasheim.
With Outlaws' Nation leader Doc Hockeyday presiding over the festivities, the turkey will be guaranteed not to be eaten during this Thanksgiving or the upcoming December celebrations, during the brief ceremony held during the game.
The Outlaws take on the Owatonna Express at 7:30pm, with gates opening at 6:30pm.
The North Iowa Outlaws Hockey Club is in its fourth season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 33nd year of operation. For more information, visit northiowaoutlaws.com or call (641) 424-5468.
Outlaws home games are played at the North Iowa Ice Arena in Mason City, IA. All games will be broadcasted on northiowaoutlaws.com and video broadcast through B/2 Network.
