Chico Outlaws News Release
CHICO, CALIF â North Valley sports fans will be able to catch exciting Chico Outlaws baseball all summer long with just a turn of the radio dial â the Outlaws and Deer Creek Broadcasting Tuesday announced an agreement that would make KPAY (1290 on the AM dial) the official radio home of the Outlaws through the 2007 season.
"From day one, we were committed to getting the Outlaws on the airwaves, and KPAY is the perfect radio vehicle," Outlaws general manager Bob Linscheid said Tuesday. "The quality they put into their Chico State sports broadcasts and six years worth of Chico Heat coverage made KPAY the logical choice."
KPAY will air all 90 Outlaws regular season games live, both home and away, during the team's inaugural 2005 campaign, which begins May 27. Longtime Chico radio veteran Rory Miller, who served as the radio voice of the Heat from 1997-2002, returns to the broadcast booth to handle the Outlaws play-by-play chores. The nightly coverage will feature pre-game interviews with Outlaws players and manager Mark Parent and post-game highlights.
"We are very proud to have KPAY 1290 once again be the flagship station for one of the North Valley's premiere sports attractions," commented Dino Corbin, Deer Creek Vice President and General Manager. "Outlaws baseball brings the âboys of summer' back to Chico and we're thrilled to carry the games on KPAY 1290."
The KPAY broadcasts of Outlaws games will also be simulcast on the internet through the team's website, www.ChicoOutlawsBaseball.com.
