Chico Outlaws News Release

CHICO, CALIF - As the independent Golden Baseball League prepares for its second year of operation, the Chico Outlaws Tuesday officially released its schedule for the 2006 season. While there are many changes to the GBL's upcoming season - the number of teams and games, league alignment, the addition of an All-Star game to be played at Nettleton Stadium, playoff qualifications and post-season format - the Outlaws plan to provide its fans with even more fun and excitement next summer.

"The Outlaws have something for everyone in 2006," General Manager Bob Linscheid said Tuesday. "Great entertainment, a fun family atmosphere...not to mention quality professional baseball action. The fans that supported the Outlaws last year will enjoy everything we have planned for this summer, and those who didn't come out to Nettleton Stadium last year will find us hard to resist in 2006." The Outlaws were one of the GBL's top draws in 2005, attracting over 87,000 fans.

The team is planning several events during the 2006 season that will appeal to fans looking for value as well as entertainment. The Outlaws will host several fireworks nights at Nettleton Stadium and bring in special acts - the Zooperstars, the Blues Brothers, Myron Noodleman and Krazy Characters among them - to add to the fun this summer. Highlights will include Opening Night June 2, a big Independence Day celebration July 3 and Fan Appreciation Weekend August 25-27, featuring a doubleheader to wrap up the regular season on the 27th. Theme and giveaway nights are currently in the planning stages.

The Outlaws will also be hosting the GBL's first-ever All-Star Game, scheduled for Tuesday, July 18. The league's top players will gather at Nettleton Stadium in the exhibition showcase; a home-run hitting contest and other special events will highlight the evening's action.

The Outlaws begin the 2006 season at home Friday, June 2 against the Fullerton Flyers and will play an 80 game schedule that concludes August 27. The Golden Baseball League will operate with six teams - Chico, the new Reno Silver Sox, Fullerton, Long Beach Armada, Yuma Scorpions and defending champion San Diego Surf Dawgs. There will be no divisional play, and the season will be divided into two halves - the first and second half winners meeting in a best-of-five GBL championship series.

The Outlaws currently have full season and a variety of mini-season ticket plans on sale at their office at 555 Main St., Suite 200 in downtown Chico. With plans starting as low as $30, Outlaws season tickets make a great holiday gift. The Outlaws have a huge array of caps, t-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts and novelty gift items in stock - and just in time for the holidays, Outlaws mini-bats, pennants and logo baseballs are 25 percent off the regular price.
