Kansas City Outlaws News Release
(Kansas City, MO) â The Kansas City Outlaws picked up another point in the UHL's Western Division after a 4-3 shootout loss to the Motor City Mechanics Friday night at Kemper Arena. The Outlaws fought back late in the game with less than four minutes remaining in regulation on a goal by Steve Yetman to force the game into overtime. Goaltender Maxime Gingras saved six shots in the extended eight-round shootout.
Kansas City Outlaws forward and Overland Park native Mark Uvodich continued to see more action tonight against the Mechanics. Uvodich, a Blue Valley Northwest graduate, played collegiate hockey at Saint Louis University where he was named Academic All-American. Uvodich is expected to dress Saturday night against the Quad City Mallards.
Outlaws rookie center Steve Yetman continued to help make his case for UHL Rookie of the Year. Yetman picked up two more points tonight with a late goal in the third period and an assist on a Jason Ruff goal in the second. Yetman, who is only 19 years-old, pulled within three points of UHL Rookie leader Mike Kinnie of the Flint Generals. Kinnie was unable to record a point tonight in Flint's loss against Adirondack.
Veteran winger Jason Ruff added a goal in the second period and an assist in the third on Yetman's goal. Ruff, who is also an assistant coach for the Outlaws, has been providing exceptional leadership in the organization. Ruff strives to lead the team with experience and help develop younger players, such as Yetman, advance their skills.
The Outlaws play at home in Kemper Arena Saturday night at 7:30 against inter-division opponent Quad City Mallards. They finish up their nine-game home stand Tuesday, December 21 at 7 p.m. against rival Missouri River Otters. Olympic Silver Medalists and Kansas City residents Terin Humphrey and Courtney McCool will be dropping the puck before the start of the game.
