North Iowa Outlaws News Release

Coming off of back-to-back shutouts over Fargo, the Jets were determined not to have the same outcome as North Iowa and Fargo faced-off against the Jets at the Carlson Coliseum in Fargo on Friday night. In the first real close game of the season, North Iowa held tough and got a late goal from rookie Travis Peckskamp that held up as the Outlaws skated to a 4-3 lead and held onto first place in the Central Division.

Robby Moss' consecutive minutes without a goal end after 130:56 seconds when Robby Phillips scored to put the Jets on the board. The lead was short lived for the Jets and North Iowa's Power Play got to work, with Shea Walters finding Bryant Skarda driving to the net and the Army recruit redirected the shot through the five-hole to tie the game. Minutes later, it was Ross Ring-Jarvi and the other side of the special teams as the penalty kill added their fourth shorthanded goal of the season as Ring-Jarvi and Joe Harcharik connected with the Anoka, MN native Ring-Jarvi beating everyone including goaltender Elliot Okland on the short side to give North Iowa the 2-1 lead. Offense was heavy as the Outlaws fired 18 shots at Okland in the opening period, while Moss saw 11 in the first.

Walters came out and added to the Outlaws lead :29 second into the second period snapping a shot from the circle that beat Okland and chased him from the game as the Jets put in back-up Joe Dawson. After Walters scored, the Jets seemed to rally around Dawson, answering with to goals on rebounds in front of Moss to tie the game after two period. Fargo came out firing in the second, throwing 22 shots at Moss in the period.

In the third the offense attacks continued as the Jets and the Outlaws exchanged chances but neither team found the net until Travis Peckskamp redirected a Jon Crouse shot with 4:00 minutes to go that put the Outlaws up for good. North Iowa's Moss stopped 42 of 25 shots for his third straight win against the Jets. The two teams face-off again Saturday in Fargo, ND at 7:00 PM.
