
Outlaws Dominate Year End Awards

WAYNE, NJ - Just a week and a half after the Outlaws clinched the Federal Hockey League regular season championship, the Federal Hockey League handed out their end of season awards today and the New Jersey Outlaws cleaned up.
A winning franchise starts at the top as the Outlaws' Owner and CEO Kristin Rooney picked up the FHL Executive of the Year award and Outlaws' President and Head Coach Chris Firriolo was awarded the FHL Coach of the Year award. Rooney and Firriolo built a winner this offseason as the Outlaws prepared for their inaugural season. Their 41-1-7 record has broken numerous FHL records and there are still three games left in the regular season.
The newest member of the New Jersey Outlaws, Jeff Winchester, was named the league MVP, as well. Winchester, a defenseman, has racked up an impressive 79 points this season with 20 goals and 59 assists. To go with those 79 points in 46 games, Jeff has an overall +77 on the season. In his 9 games as an Outlaw, Winchester has 6 goals, 14 assists, and is a +20. The all FHL team is made up of five Outlaws. Travis Kauffeldt (100 points this season), Kevin Cooper, Jeff Winchester, Nathan Oke, and Dan McWhinney all received the accolade of being named to the team. Defenseman Dan Mercer was named to the FHL's all rookie team.
The broadcast team of the New Jersey Outlaws also took home the award for the best broadcast team. Bret Leuthner, RogerAhl, and John Pedersen create an NHL feel during their FHL broadcasts and provide a fair and unbiased view on the action during the games.
The award winning Outlaws begin their playoff run at the Capital One Ice Vault in Wayne, New Jersey on Friday, March 9th and Saturday, March 10th, both at 7:35pm, as they host games one and two of the first round of the FHL Commissioner Cup Playoffs against the Cape Cod Bluefins. If necessary, game five will take place on Sunday, March 18th, once again at 7:35pm.
