Williamsport Outlaws News Release
WILLIAMSPORT, PA - - Williamsport entered the night only two points out of first place, with a win giving them a potential one point lead over the Dayton Demonz. The Danbury Whalers thought otherwise, defeating the Outlaws 6-3 at Airmen Pond at Historic Bowman Field Thursday night.
The Outlaws jumped to an early lead on Chris LeVeille's 10th goal of the season at the 7:24 mark of the first period. The goal was LeVeille's third shorthanded goal in his last four games. The assists came from Jeff Winchester and Trevor Karasiewicz.
LeVeille extended his point streak to six games as well as Karasiewicz. Winchester extended his point streak to a team high eight games and has tallied a point in 11 of his 12 games played with the Outlaws this season.
Danbury would answer with three goals of their own in the second period, the first coming from former Williamsport Outlaws defensemen Paul D'Agostino at the 7:35 mark. The second goal came from Tyler Noseworthy at the 10:07 mark and the third came seconds later from Cody Ayers at the 10:34 mark of the second period.
Williamsport would not be shutout in the period as Rob Sich would score his league leading 20th goal off of an Outlaws faceoff win at the 14:50 mark from Brett Needham. Sich has scored a goal in his last five games and has extended his point streak to seven games. The assist extended Needham's point streak to a season high seven games.
Danbury would extend their lead in the third period with back-to-back goals from Julian Fraser at the 9:05 mark from Toms Tilla at the 13:48 mark to make it 5-3 in favor of the Whalers.
Sich would tally his second goal of the night at the 15:40 mark of the third period on the power play from Nathan Oke and Winchester to make it 5-3.
Danbury would add another goal to dash any chance of an Outlaws come back at the 17:56 mark when Max Mobley beat Chris Whitley to make it 6-3.
Danbury goaltender Mike Brown made 27 saves on 30 shots against, while Outlaws goaltender Chirs Whitley made 46 saves on 52 shots faced.
Both of these teams will square off tomorrow night at 7:05pm at Airmen Pond at Historic Bowmen Field.
