Kansas City Outlaws News Release
KANSAS CITY, MO--- Kansas City's UHL expansion hockey franchise, including Owner Stephen Franke, President Richard Adler, and Director of Player Personnel Joe Bucchino unveiled the team name as KANSAS CITY OUTLAWS, team colors (burgundy, gold, and black), logo, and jerseys. THE KANSAS CITY OUTLAWS will begin their inaugural season against the Missouri River Otters on Friday, October 15 at Kemper Arena. The Outlaws website is now accessible at www.kansascityoutlaws.com. Season tickets are now on sale by calling (816) 513-4400.
The red and burgundy colors in the team logo and jerseys represent the blood that the Outlaws have shed over the years. The black and white jerseys represent the Outlaws internal struggle between good and bad. The stars on the jerseys represent the sheriffs they have encountered throughout their life.
"After receiving 7092 entries through the Kansas City Star's âName the Team Contest,' we loved the Outlaws, which was a popular entry during the contest," said Stephen Franke, Kansas City Outlaws Owner. "There are many promotional opportunities with the name "Outlaws," as we hope to make games at Kemper Arena an unforgettable experience."
"The positive response that we received from the "Name the Team Contest" is a great sign of what is to come with the UHL in Kansas City," said Richard Adler, Kansas City Outlaws President. "The Outlaws will be ready to impress Kansas City starting with the home opener against the Missouri River Otters at Kemper Arena on October 15."
Wednesday's announcement at the Granfalloon on the Plaza in Kansas City, MO, included fans who entered Express, Outlaws, and Twisters through the "Name the Team Contest" from Friday, July 9 to Sunday, July 18 at www.kansascity.com and mail-in letters. Of the hockey fans that picked the Outlaws, one winner won season tickets for life to all home games.
The team's management along with Global Spectrum, the facility management company for Kemper Arena and the American Royal Center, sorted through the names and narrowed the search to three based on creativity, marketability, and fan-appeal. Outlaws beat out Express and Twisters as the chosen name.
Season tickets to the UHL franchise at Kemper Arena ranging from $10 to $13.50 per game are on sale now. For ticket information call (816) 513-4400. Single game tickets at $10, $15, and $18 go on sale to the public on Monday, September 13. For more information, visit www.kansascityoutlaws.com.
