Outlaws Advance to FHL Championship

The New Jersey Outlaws have advanced to the Federal Hockey League's Commissioner's Cup Finals by virtue of a 5-3 victory over the Cape Cod Bluefins in Hyannis, Massachusetts in game 3 of the first round best of 5 series. The Outlaws swept the series in three games, but it was far from easy.

In game 1, the Outlaws built up a 4-0 lead over the sixth seeded Bluefins, but the "˜Fins stormed back to tie the game after two periods. The teams would trade early goals in the 3rd before the Outlaws scored four late goals to seal a hard fought 9-5 victory. Game 2 was much different, with the teams battling to breakthrough for the first goal. The Outlaws eventually solved Bluefins goaltender Adam Roy late in the 2nd period and added two more in the third period for a 3-0 victory. The series finale shifted to Cape Cod, but the Outlaws would not be denied. Despite their best efforts to battle back, the Bluefins could not overcome the Outlaws and succumbed by the 5-3 margin.

The Outlaws now await the winners of this weekend's battle between the second seeded 1000 Islands Privateers and the rival Danbury Whalers. By virtue of their regular season championship, the Outlaws will have home ice advantage in the finals. The series will begin this coming Tuesday and Wednesday on the road, but will return to the Capital One Ice Vault in Wayne, New Jersey for games 3, 4, 5, and a decisive game 7. Game 3 will be Thursday, March 22 at 7:35pm. Game 4 will take place Saturday, March 24th at 7:35pm. If necessary, game 5 is scheduled for Sunday, March 25th at 4:00pm and game 7 is set for Saturday, March 31st at 7:35pm.

Tickets are on sale now for the finals. Tickets purchased in advance will be $15 for adults and $13 for kids, but day of game tickets will be $17 for adults and $15 for kids.
