
OurSports Central announces AFL Players of the Week

April 29, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Philadelphia Soul quarterback Matt D'Orazio, Philadelphia Soul defensive back Eddie Moten and San Jose SaberCats wide receiver Rodney Wright were named the OurSports Central Arena Football League Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, for week nine of the AFL season.
D'Orazio was 20-29 (69%) for 194 yards with six touchdown passes and had 35 rushing yards with two touchdowns in the Soul's 57-28 victory over the Dallas Desperados.
Moten had three interceptions and 10 tackles in the Soul's victory over the Dallas Desperados.
Wright returned four kicks for 120 yards (30 avg.) including one 56 yards for a touchdown in the SaberCats' 70-42 victory over the Los Angeles Avengers.
Other players considered for Offensive honors were New Orleans QB Danny Wimprine, New York QB Aaron Garcia, New York WR Kevin Swayne, Rattlers FB Chris Robinson and San Jose QB Mark Grieb.
Others considered for Defensive award were Grand Rapids LB Michael McFadden, New Orleans DB Norman LeJeune, New York LB Idris Price, Tampa Bay DL Tom Briggs and San Jose DB Clevan Thomas.
Other players considered for Special Team honors included Grand Rapids Brian Gowins (1-1 on field goals, 9-10 on extra points), Grand Rapids Chris Martin (six returns for 125 yards), Chicago's Dan Frantz (1-1 on field goals, 8-9 on extra points and two special teams tackles), New Orleans Todd France (10-10 on extra points) and San Jose's A.J. Haglund (3-3 on field goals).
