Otters Trade One and Add One

Evansville Otters News Release


The Evansville Otters have sent Alex Fonseca to the Gary Railcats of the Northern League to complete the trade that sent Jon Lewis to the Railcats in 2008.

The Otters have also signed right handed hurler Brandon Dill to the 2009 spring training roster. Dill born 12/5/84 in Tuscaloosa, AL pitched in the Colorado Rockies system as a reliever appearing in 13 games. Dill was 3-1 with a 2.92 ERA in 24.2 innings and 24 strikeouts while on the mound for the Casper Ghosts.

Dill played collegiate baseball at the University of West Alabama compiling a 22-2 career record with 5 saves in 206 innings pitched with a 3.36 ERA and 166 strikeouts. In 2008 Dill was named to the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-American Third Team. He also was named to the 2008 Daktronics All-American Baseball Team after going 10-1 with a 3.48 ERA. In 14 appearances and 13 starts, Dill pitched 85.1 innings allowing 42 runs on 87 hits with 75 strikeouts and 18 walks. The hurler was named All-Gulf South Conference First Team along with the other honors.

In the 2007 season Dill appeared in 20 games on the mound for the Tigers, all relief appearances. He recorded a 5-0 record on the hill with five saves to his credit. Totaled a 2.86 ERA for the Red and White, while allowing only 44 hits and 21 runs scored. He posted the highest winning percentage on the mound while leading the pitching staff in fewest homeruns allowed with one.

The Evansville Otters are members of the Frontier League 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season this summer.
