Otters Sign Indiana Native and 1B Andrew Clark

(EVANSVILLE, INDIANA) - The Evansville Otters added Indiana native and first baseman Andrew Clark on Sunday.

Clark was born in Indianapolis and attended New Palestine High School, where he was the Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year . He excelled collegiately at the University of Louisville where he was on multiple Big East Teams including Tournament MVP his senior season (.370 batting average, 13 home runs).

"We are looking for Andrew to hit in the middle of our lineup," said manager Andy McCauley . "He should be a threat for us offensively as he is a very patient hitter at the plate and can drive in runs."

Clark was drafted in the 13th round of the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft by the Texas Rangers . He played three seasons in the Rangers organization where he was named as a Baseball America Low A Class All- Star with the Hickory Crawdads (.313, 12 HR, 60 RBIs).

"This is a great opportunity for me," said Clark. "I am really happy to be playing baseball again this summer. I am going to bring my experience and my work ethic to the Otters.

The Otters will be having an exhibition game that benefits Jacob's Village on Friday, May 10 against the Southern Illinois Miners . First pitch will be at 6:35 p.m. CDT at historic Bosse Field . Tickets are $4 for general admission or $6 for reserve seats. All ticket proceeds will go to local charity Jacob's Village. The Evansville Otters season starts on Friday, May 17 against the Normal CornBelters . The year will feature 51 home games including seven scheduled doubleheaders.
