Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL-The Quad City Mallards today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Drew Otten for the 2006-07 season. Otten spent the first two years of his pro career in the Quad Cities before spending the 2005-06 season in the Central Hockey League with Tulsa and Austin.
Otten appeared in 62 games last season. He recorded nine goals and 18 assists for 27 points during his time in the CHL. Otten began the season with the Tulsa Oilers before being traded to the Austin Ice Bats on February 13th, 2006 in exchange for forward Shawn Roed.
Before moving to the Central League, Otten spent his first two professional seasons with the Mallards. In 47 appearances during the 2004-05 season, Otten recorded 17 points (seven goals and ten assists) with 72 penalty minutes.
As a rookie with the 2003-04 Mallards, Otten played 71 games while setting career highs in goals (11), assists (20) and points (31). During his Mallards career, Otten played 118 games and scored 48 points (18 goals and 30 assists).
"We're happy to have Drew back," said Mallards President Tim Taylor. "He'll certainly bring in a physical aspect that we know our fans enjoyed during his first stint here. There is some goal scoring potential with Drew as well."
"Drew plays a physical game," said Mallards General Manager and Head Coach Brian Curran. "He'll bang and crash, and he knows how to get under the opponent's skin. The reports I've received from Tim and other people around the league are that he'll irritate other teams and play the antagonizer role."
Mallards season tickets are available now via The MARK box office at (309) 764-2000. Fans interested in season ticket information, including the Mallards Season Ticket GUARANTEE, can contact the Mallards Ticket Office at (309) 764-7825.
