Ottawa SkyHawks Release Head Coach

Kevin Keathley has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the Ottawa SkyHawks Basketball Club.

"We feel that a new coaching philosophy is needed to drive this franchise forward for the long-term. We thank him for his services to date in Ottawa and wish him nothing but success in his future endeavours" says Owner Gus Takkale.

Stepping in as Head Coach will be 1999 NBA champion (San Antonio) Jaren Jackson. Jackson played for defensive Guru and future NBA hall of famer Coach Gregg Popovich. He has won various minor league championships and knows what it takes to get players working together in synergy. Coach Jackson was the former bench boss of the NBA Developmental League's Fort Wayne Mad Ants. He brings the city of Ottawa nine years of NBA experience as a player and has coached in the NCAA, ABA, CBA, PBL and most recently in the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL) for the St. John Mill Rats in 2012.

"Coach Jackson has the championship pedigree to teach, mentor and lead our young nucleus of players on and off the court" says Technical Director Merrick Palmer.

Jackson's first game as head coach will take place at home on "Win Win Wednesday" Wednesday, November 27th, 7:30pm at the Canadian Tire against the Moncton Miracles.. Win Win Wednesday - is a Guaranteed win for Ottawa SkyHawks and their fans.. whereas if the SkyHawks don't win, fans still win free tickets for another game. Hair Republic Ravens Rhythm, the Official Dance Team for Carleton University will perform the halftime show this Wednesday.
