Ottawa SkyHawks News Release
Ottawa Ontario - The Ottawa SkyHawks are excited to announce three additions to our training camp roster bringing the total number to fifteen. The SkyHawks have come to terms with Guard Jerice Crouch, along with Demetrius Jemison and Jermaine Johnson both playing Forward, all pending FIBA clearance.
Crouch spent the previous season with Saint John Mill Rats where he was voted an NBL second team all-star. Standing 6'0" Crouch brings NBL experience to the SkyHawks backcourt. "I've had the opportunity over the years to watch & coach against Jerice & I've always been impressed with his leadership & basketball ability on both sides of the ball," said SkyHawks head coach Kevin Keathley.
"Over the last 4 seasons he's been one of the best point guards in North America outside the NBA. Signing a NBL Canada All-Star who was also ALL-league last season is huge for our early development as a franchise. He is a proven winner having competed for multiple championships over the years. The addition of Jerice immediately gives us one of the best backcourt combinations in NBL Canada this season."
Demetrius Jemison a 6'8" power forward played NCAA DIV. 1 at University of Alabama and completed his senior year at Manhattan averaging over 10ppg. Last season Jemison played in the BBL in the United Kingdom, he brings significant professional experience paired with size and power to the training camp roster.
Jermaine Johnson, a 6'7" also a power forward, played College ball at Charleston (NCAA DIV. 1) where he had an impressive College career. "Jermaine will add to our depth and toughness on the low blocks this season," said Coach Keathley. "Over the years he has proven to be a force in terms of rebounding & has routinely shot over 50% from field which shows he has great shot selection and positioning around the rim. Jermaine was an All-Conference performer multiple times for the College of Charleston and has had success on the pro level. I anticipate he will be a strong asset to what we are trying to do in the low post and defensively."
The Ottawa SkyHawks training camp runs for two weeks beginning October 14th. The regular season tips off November 2, 2013 at the Canadian Tire Centre. Season tickets are now available www.ottawaskyhawks.com/tickets - Individual game and flex packages will be released October 2 @ 10 AM.
