Haley Signs with Storm

The Storm have added another Small Forward to their 2013-2014 roster with the signing of Hillary Haley, pending FIBA clearance.
The 6'7", 210 lbs Maryland native spent his rookie season in the NBL with the Halifax Rainmen, where he averaged 9.5 points and 4.1 rebounds in 20 minutes of play per game.
Haley, who was a regular in the Rainmen rotation, recorded a double double (17 points, 14 rebounds) in Halifax's 105-96 win over Saint John on November 10, 2012 He had a season-high of 20 points in a 109-87 loss to Moncton on November 17, 2012.
Haley played his collegiate ball at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where he was a 3-year starter. As a senior, Haley scored his 1000th point for the Hawks, on his way to being named to the All-MEAC 2nd Team in 2011, and the NABC Division 1 All-District 2nd Team. With the Hawks, he averaged 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
Head Coach of the Storm, Joe Salerno, says Haley is an exciting player to watch and feels fans on PEI will enjoy watching him.
"Hillary is a versatile forward who will bring a lot of different things to the table for us. He had a solid rookie season in the NBL last year with the Rainmen, and proved he was more than capable of competing in this league. He is a high-energy guy, someone who will dive on loose balls, get the tough rebound and do whatever the team needs him to do to win ball games. He is very talented, and has a great attitude and work ethic. I think Hillary will be a fan-favorite here on the Island from the get-go."
Haley, meanwhile, says he has heard how involved the fans are in the games here on Prince Edward Island.
"I am very excited to be part of the Storm organization, and I am looking forward to playing for Coach Joe and with great players. I also believe that the Storm has the best fan base in the NBLC and I cannot wait to play for them this upcoming season."
Following his season with the Rainmen, Haley joined the Rochester Razorsharks of the PBL (Premier Basketball League), where he averaged 12.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
Storm to appear at Holland College for "Transitions" Program
Storm Players Doug McKinney, Nick Evans, and Head Coach Joe Salerno will be meeting with Transitions Program students at Holland College this Monday, September 23rd.
The group will be discussing each player's journey to become a professional athlete, and they'll learn what it's like in the average "day in the life" of a Storm player.
