OTTAWA, ON - Fury FC saw its seven-match unbeaten run ended last week with a pair of 2-1 defeats, but the numbers suggest that Fury FC should still find themselves unbeaten. With 36 shots over those two contests all that was missing from Ottawa was the final touch in front of goal.
So, it's a poised Fury FC who will be looking to turn things around Sunday afternoon when New York come to town as the 2015 Fall Season Champions look to stall the Cosmos' run at claiming the 2016 fall title.
Head Coach Paul Dalglish insists on the importance of being opportunistic.
"The way we are playing right now, we are creating more chances than anybody else, we just have to improve that quality in the final third."
"At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how many chances you have, it's all about being ruthless in the in the final third. I'm confident we can control the game against anybody at this moment, New York included."
While a lot of players have been key pieces of Ottawa's offensive puzzle lately, two of them have been particularly on fire in the past few games in Giuseppe Gentile - who scored three goals and added an assist in the last four games - and Ryan Williams - who scored three goals in the last four games.
The dynamic duo has factored in on six of the club's last eight goals. For Gentile, it's all a matter of confidence.
"Soccer has a lot to do with confidence and getting to know each other," said Gentile. "Team chemistry has been working and clicking in the past few games. We've been focusing on our attacking principles and we've executed well to create ourselves great opportunities, now we need to take advantage of them."
Following Sunday's match, Fury FC will head on the road for their next two games - Sunday,October 16th against Rayo OKC and Saturday, October 22nd against Tampa Bay - before returning to TD Place on October 29th to close out their regular season against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
