FC Edmonton News Release

Ledgerwood, 31, has featured in the majority of FC Edmonton's 2016 matches, registering a total of 2012 minutes in NASL regular season play. The Lethbridge, Alta. native and current Canadian international has provided head coach Colin Miler with a wealth of experience at the midfield position.

"I think Nik re-signing with us speaks volumes about where we are as a club," Miller said. "Nik could probably have stayed in Europe and continued to play in Germany, had his pick of almost every NASL team, or even a MLS team because of his experience and professionalism. However, he is really enjoying his time at FC Edmonton, and I think the club deserves an enormous amount of credit for that."

Ledgerwood kicked off his professional career in 2002 with the now-defunct Calgary Storm before heading to Europe to compete. The midfielder played for a number of teams abroad, including 1860 Munchen, FSV Frankfurt, Wehen Wiesbaden, Hammarby, MSV Duisburg and Energie Cottbus before returning to his home province of Alberta in 2016 to join the Eddies.

"It's a very good environment here at FC Edmonton, it's a learning environment, a challenging environment and Nik is a guy that, as we look to build the club moving forward in years to come, could become an integral part of what we're doing," Miller added. "Nik is really keen to stay in his home province and play. We're delighted that we have done this deal nice and early and to get it out of the way so Nik can focus on some continuity here with FC Edmonton."

Join Ledgerwood and his teammates this Sunday, Oct. 9 as part of the Oktoberfest celebrations when the Eddies take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies in search of a berth in the Championship. Clarke Stadium will be electric with the sights and sounds of German culture, including music, food, dancing, face painting and more!
