Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide News Release

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME- The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (11-12) shutout the Seacoast Mavericks (9-15) on Sunday afternoon at The Ballpark, 3-0. Ryan Otero (Coral Gables, FL/Miami) got the victory tossing five innings, giving up just three hits and striking out five.

The Raging Tide were able to break the deadlock in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 2-0 lead. Sam Canales (Saco, ME/Bowdoin) laid down a bunt to sacrifice over the Fran Whitten (Westborough, MA/Maine) to third and Brian Doran (Ayr, ONT/Maine) to second. Shane Bussey (Boynton Beach, FL/Maine) singled to bring in Whitten, then Graham McIntire (Concord, NH/Marist) would hit into a fielder's choice that scored Doran.

The Mavericks biggest threat to come back was in the top of the seventh when Buck McCarthy (Saugus, MA/Stetson) tripled, then two consecutive walks loaded the bases for Brett Tenuto (Audubon, NJ/Sacred Heart) when Phil Sciretta (Duxbury, MA/Virginia Tech) got him to ground out to third to strand all three runners on base.

OOB added another run in the eighth to add to their lead 3-0 on a wild pitch that plated in McIntire.

Ty Sterner (Worcester, MA/URI) suffered the loss for Seacoast after tossing 3.1 innings of relief, yielding two earned runs and three hits while striking out one.

Tyler Pogmore (Lebanon, CT/Roger Williams) recorded his fourth save of the season, tossing a hitless ninth and striking out two.

The Tide will return to action at The Ballpark tomorrow as they host the Nashua Silver Knights at 7pm.
