Missoula PaddleHeads News Release
BILLINGS, MT - The Missoula Osprey have become very comfortable with coming from behind to win games. This time, however, it was the Billings Mustangs that did the rallying.
Designated Hitter Chris Richburg homered off of Osprey reliever Kevin Eichhorn to break a 4-all tie, as the Mustangs beat the Osprey, 6-4, in front of 2,714 fans on Wednesday at Dehler Park.
With the loss, and Great Falls' 5-4 win at Helena, the Osprey and Voyagers are currently tied for the lead in the Pioneer League's North Division, as the first-half race draws to a close. The two teams will play three games against each other beginning Friday in Great Falls.
Missoula (19-15) held a 4-2 lead entering the bottom of the fifth inning, but Billings scored twice in the inning to tie the game, and tallied two more runs in the eighth to account for the final.
Ramon Castillo had three hits for the Osprey, who finished with nine on the night. Keon Broxton added a single and a triple, while David Nick, David Narodowski, Raywily Gomez and Jae Yun Kim each added a base hit.
The Osprey will complete the two-game series with the Mustangs on Thursday at Dehler Park. Right-hander Eric Smith will go for the Osprey, while right-hander Blair Carson will get the ball for the Mustangs.
The Osprey will open the second half of the 2009 season at home on Monday against the Helena Brewers. Tickets for any remaining game this season can be obtained for all Osprey home games by calling the Osprey at (406) 543-3300, stopping by the Osprey Team Store at 412 W. Alder, or ordering online at www.missoulaosprey.com.
