Oshawa Power Home Opener Thursday

The Oshawa Power is excited to be hosting the Moncton Miracles in their inaugural home opener on Thursday November 3 at the General Motors Centre. Canadians Tut Ruach and Kevin Francis are two of the main pieces on the Power roster. The Miracles feature Toronto native Tristan Martin in their back court and small forward and Moncton native Matt Robertson.
The Power is eager to get into the win column after a hard-fought opening game loss to the Quebec Kebs this past weekend. The Miracles also lost to the Kebs this past Saturday.
The Power will be relying on a strong home court advantage when they hit the hardwood to face the Miracles.
"If last week's enthusiasm and support is any indicator, we should have a loud and raucous crowd in Oshawa on Thursday night for our opener," said Gary Durrant, President of Basketball Operations. " "We want to make sure we protect our home court and utilize the fans as our sixth man."
Game time is fast approaching and it's going to be a night to remember. There will be special guests and an opening night ceremony that includes Oshawa's Mayor John Henry at centre court. The mayor has also wagered a friendly bet with Moncton Mayor George Leblanc, with the losing team's Mayor having to don the jersey of the winning team's Mayor at his next respective council meeting. To say that Mayor Henry believes in his team is an understatement.
"In true community spirit, let's show Moncton that we have the best NBL Canada team and the best fans! Show your support and feel the excitement at the Nov. 3 game."
The Power will also reveal their team mascot at the game and will be having a contest for the public to name him as well.
