Orlando Titans News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 3) - The Orlando Titans have declared their Feb. 20 home game with the Boston Blazers as "Hometown Heroes Night."
During the game, the team will honor all current and retired military service personnel, as well as public safety officers - including fire fighters, police and paramedics.
As part of the evening, the Titans have pledged a substantial donation to the Wounded Warrior Project. The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project is to honor and empower wounded soldiers. They accomplish this by raising awareness and enlisting the public's aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women. In addition, the Wounded Warrior Project helps severely injured service members to aid and assist each other, and provides unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members.
The Titans became involved in the program at the urging of team captain Casey Powell, who is working closely with the Samaritan Team. That organization is sponsoring a college and high school lacrosse event on Feb. 13 at Boone High School to raise additional funds the Wounded Warrior Project.
"The more I learned about the Wounded Warrior Project, the more I wanted to become personally involved," Powell said. "The organization does incredible work for the people that are the most deserving of our gratitude -- the men and women who have paid a huge price in defending our country and defending our freedom."
Tickets for the Titans-Blazers game start at $20 with group discounts available. The Titans are also offering a $5 discount for all active and retired military personnel, as well as active and retired public safety officers. For tickets and information on the night, call the Orlando Titans Ticket Office at 407-601-6516.
