ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando Pride (1-1-0, 3 points) looks to build on its winning ways, returning to Exploria Stadium to take on the Kansas City Current (0-2-0, 0 points) on Saturday, May 14. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. ET with the match available to stream on Paramount+ in the U.S. and internationally on Twitch.
"[Kansas City has] really good players in attacking spots that we have to be really mindful of. [We are] getting a sense of what their formation might be so we can set up against them. They are going to be good. They are going to be searching for a win," Head Coach Amanda Cromwell said. "Winning is great, it's a great feeling and becomes a habit. That's what we are going to try to remind [the team]. That energy, that confidence is a habit. You walk onto the field every game wanting to continue those habits that get us the three points."
Saturday will mark the first of two matchups against the Current in the Pride's 2022 regular season campaign, with the team coming off a 1-0 victory in its inaugural match against Angel City FC last weekend.
The Pride earned their first win of the season last Sunday, defeating the 2022 expansion side at Banc of California Stadium. The Pride were fueled by a third-minute goal from Sydney Leroux, the third-fastest goal in Orlando Pride history.
The game against Angel City also saw other milestones for the Pride. Head Coach Amanda Cromwell earned her first victory of her professional career. Goalkeeper Erin McLeod also picked up her 10th NWSL shutout, making three saves in the match, including a 90th-minute goal line stop to preserve the win. Defender Toni Pressley played in her 100th regular season match, her 66th appearance in a Pride uniform.
In the last NWSL regular season matchup against the Current, the Pride left Kansas City with a 3-1 victory behind a Leroux brace and a Marta goal that came from the edge of the center circle. The Pride have won both of their matchups against the Current since the Kansas City side joined the NWSL in 2021 as an expansion club.
The Current are coming off a 2-0 defeat against the Houston Dash in the team's NWSL regular season home opener.
Following Saturday's match, Orlando will travel to WakeMed Soccer Park and take on the North Carolina Courage on Wednesday, May 18. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.
