ORLANDO - Members of the Orlando Predators organization volunteered their time Saturday afternoon to participate in the 5th Annual Orlando Holiday Walk for Bleeding Disorders in Downtown Orlando.
The event is an annual fundraiser for the Hemophilia Foundation of Greater Orlando.
Among those taking part on behalf of the Orlando Predators was new head coach Bret Munsey, linebacker Marlon Moye-Moore and Prowler Dancer Amanda S.
The event took place in Lake Eola Park in Downtown Orlando and had over 400 members of the community participate. O rganizers estimated that the event will raise $40,000 for the Greater Orlando Hemophilia Foundation.
Amanda Charbanneau, one of the event organizers, said the money raised will go toward education, scholarship programs and outreach programs, as well as camp participation for children with bleeding disorders.
"This is the fifth year of this event, but it just seemed to explode this year. We expect 2012 will be the most successful year to date," Charbanneau said. "We are extremely happy to have the Orlando Predators participate in this event. Their presence here has helped us bring quite a bit of attention to the walk and has helped us raise additional money for our programs."
Moye-Moore organized warm-ups for all walkers and led them out to the walking path that circled Lake Eola Park. The Arena Football League veteran has participated in many fundraising events on behalf of the Predators and was once again happy to help serve the community.
"I always try to give something back to the community when I can," Moye-Moore said. "Seeing so many people that are not as fortunate as I am makes me want to do more, especially during the Holiday Season."
