Orlando City SC News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - Orlando City SC goalkeeper Mason Stajduhar has undergone successful surgery to repair a left knee meniscus tear, the Club announced today. The surgery was performed by Dr. Craig Mintzer, the Club's chief medical officer and orthopedic surgeon, at Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute in downtown Orlando.
The timeline for Stajduhar's recovery is not yet available.
"Mason has worked incredibly hard to reach this point in his career but if there's one thing that we know about him, he will come back from this even stronger," Orlando City SC EVP Luiz Muzzi said. "Until that point, we're happy to be here to support him, provide him with the best environment to rehab and recover, and then work him back into the team when he's ready."
"Mason's surgery went as planned with no further damage to his knee identified at the time of surgery," Dr. Mintzer said following the procedure. "We expect a full recovery and return to play under the careful guidance of the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute medical staff and Orlando City training staff."
Stajduhar earned his Major League Soccer debut on July 25, starting and earning a win against rival Atlanta United. Since then, Stajduhar has gone on to make five additional starts between the pipes, remaining undefeated in league play. The 23-year-old earned his first professional shutout on Aug. 21, a 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire where he was named Heineken Man of the Match.
