Norfolk Tides News Release
The Orioles today announced that they have recalled RHP BOB MCCRORY, RHP CHRIS LAMBERT and LHP CHRIS WATERS from Triple-A Norfolk and selected the contracts of INF JUSTIN TURNER and CA GUILLERMO RODRIGUEZ from Norfolk.
The Orioles have also placed OF ADAM JONES on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to September 2, with a sprained left ankle and transferred OF LOU MONTANEZ (right thumb surgery) and RHP BRAD BERGESEN (left shin contusion) from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
McCrory, 27, was 0-3 with a 3.88 ERA (62.2IP, 27ER) in 50 games for Norfolk. He appeared in three games for the Orioles earlier this season, allowing five earned runs in five innings of work.
Lambert, 26, appeared in 10 games for Detroit over the last two seasons, going 1-3 with a 7.90 ERA (27.1IP, 24ER). In 24 Triple-A starts between Norfolk and Toledo this year, Lambert was 7-9 with a 3.84 ERA (138.1IP, 59 ER). The Orioles claimed Lambert off waivers from Detroit August 20th and optioned him to Norfolk. He will wear number 55 for the Orioles.
Waters, 29, went 9-7 with a 4.49 ERA (114.1IP, 57 ER) in 29 games (20 starts) for the Tides. Waters was 3-5 with a 5.01 ERA (64.2IP, 36ER) in 11 starts for Baltimore last season.
Turner, 24, batted .300 (116-387) with two home runs and 43 RBI in 108 games for Norfolk. The right-handed hitting infielder was obtained by the Orioles in the December 9, 2008 trade that sent CA RAMON HERNANDEZ to Cincinnati. 2009 was Turner's first season above the Double-A level. He will wear number 83.
Rodriguez, 31, split the season between Double-A Bowie, where he batted .251 (57-227) with five home runs and 21 RBI in 71 games, and Triple-A Norfolk, where he batted .222 (16-72) with nine RBI in 18 games. Rodriguez was signed by the Orioles November 15, 2008 as a minor league free agent. He played in 39 games for San Francisco in 2007. He will wear number 78.
