RYAN KETCHNER, Toledo Mud Hens IL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

This week left-hander Ryan Ketchner saw his first action at the Triple-A level since going 1-11 for Portland in 2007, and he made the most of the opportunity. Ketchner went 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA in two starts, allowing just 11 hits and two walks while striking out six in 16.0 innings pitched. Ketchner was released by Seattle after last season and remained unsigned until mid-July when he joined Detroit's Class-A Lakeland team as a free agent. Despite winning just once in ten outings with Lakeland, Ketchner was promoted to Toledo to start Wednesday's game at Indianapolis. He beat the Indians with 7.0 strong innings, scattering five hits and allowing just one run. On the regular season's final day in Columbus, Ketchner delivered his first career complete game 9.0-inning shutout. The Clippers managed just six hits against him all evening.

27-year-old Ryan Ketchner is in his tenth season as a professional player. He reached Triple-A for one game in 2002 (Tacoma), 2004 and 2006 (Las Vegas), before finally spending a full season at the classification in 2007 with Tacoma (going 1-11, 5.62 ERA). Ketchner, who was born legally deaf, spent the 2008 season pitching for Double-A West Tennessee, where he went 7-6 with a 4.75 ERA. Ketchner is a native of Wellsville, New York.
