The Orem Owlz took an early 4-0 lead before the Rockies roared back to tie the ballgame by the 3rd inning on Monday night. Then the Rockies went to sleep and Orem took full advantage.
The Orem bullpen was great with Anthony Sullivan working three innings and fanning six Rockies to earn the win. Casper's Sandy Espinosa took the loss falling to 0-1.
Rockies Starter Brandon Durden failed to make it out of the 3rd inning, walking five and allowing four earned runs. The Rockies staff struggled with their command all night walking nine men in all.
Offensively for Casper Steven Suarez pushed his current hitting streak to eight games, while outfielder Dexter Fowler saw his ten game hit streak end with an 0-4 night.
The Rockies and Owlz play the rubber match of the series at 7:05 Tuesday night. Righty Anuery Rodriguez gets the nod for Casper against lefty Kelly Shearer of Orem.
