Orange Men player runner up at Hoop It Up

August 14, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Las Vegas Aces News Release

Orlando, FL. ABA Orlando Orange Men point guard Mike Preston, a native of Orlando, placed second at the World Championship Hoop It Up Slam Dunk event this weekend in Florida.

The six foot Preston had the crowd going crazy with his "Vince Carter style" of dunking. After making it easily to the finals, and getting ready for the big jump of the day, team co-owner Jimmy Lyons made the decision not to allow Mike to do his final jump. According to Lyons, "Mike was going to jump over three people and switch hands in the middle of the air. I've seen Mike perform this dunk many times, but I felt that I couldn't afford getting him injured. Mike agreed, bowed out gracefully and accepted second place."

Preston added, "It was the right decision though I would have liked to have won. But I think that the crowd got a little taste of the Orlando Orange Men and the type of excitement we'll be bringing this season. Coach Triplett is putting together a championship team - and I'm excited to be a part of it." For more information, email mastermarkus911@yahoo.com or visit www.abalive.com.
