Orange County SC Loses 2-0 to Monterey Bay
July 10, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Orange County SC News Release
Orange County SC dropped a 2-0 decision to Monterey Bay FC on Saturday, July 9 at Championship Soccer Stadium. The gap between OCSC's position on the table and the playoff line only widened.
The match marked the first meeting between the two squads with play taking time to develop as OCSC had a new lineup due to key players missing due to suspension and injury.
Back-to-back USL Championship Team of the Week member Milan Iloski had OCSC's first chance of the night in the 21st minute, but he saw his left-footed effort from outside the box tail wide of the left post.
OCSC's best goal scoring opportunity of the first half came in the 26th minute on a cross from Ian Hoffmann, however Erick "Cubo" Torres could not direct his header on target
It took until the 36th minute of the match for the first shot on target. Monterey Bay's Chase Boone put the crisp and kelp ahead 1-0.
OCSC had the first chance of the second half when Iloski redirected a Tony Rocha cross on target that was kept out by Monterey Bay's Antony Siaha.
Monterey doubled their lead in the second half with a goal from Christian Volesky in close. OCSC tried to push for a late comeback, but were unable to get past Monterey.
OCSC plays host to The Miami FC on Saturday, July 16 for our annual Touch-A-Truck event at Championship Soccer Stadium, where kids can interact with their favorite trucks, vehicles, and the drivers who operate them. Tickets can be purchased here.
