OPSM Pro Combine Headed to Tulsa in December
October 12, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Tulsa News Release
TULSA - Ottawa Pro Sports Management (OPSM) will hold a professional combine in Tulsa the first week of December for all prospective players wanting a chance to try out for a professional contract. FC Tulsa head coach Michael Nsien will be in attendance to scout the participants of the OPSM Combine for potential players for next year's roster.
Last season was the first time OPSM hosted a combine in Tulsa, and two players from that combine earned professional contracts with FC Tulsa and USL Championship playing time in 2021. Goalkeeper Austin Wormell and forward Michael Cunningham both caught the eye of head coach Michael Nsien at the 2020 combine.
"I have a tremendous amount of respect for players that are willing to sacrifice in search of an opportunity to pursue their dreams," said FC Tulsa head coach Michael Nsien. "I'm glad that we are able to host an OPSM Combine here in Tulsa. Since it's here, we are able to get more scouts out to see with our own eyes if any players have what we are looking for. The ability to have dialogue with the players also helps to learn more about the player."
A native to Tulsa, Wormell has 11 appearances as a rookie keeper this season with one clean sheet and three wins. Cunningham, a forward from England, earned his professional debut as well with FC Tulsa, coming on as a sub in May against Atlanta United 2. Last month, FC Tulsa loaned Cunningham to Stumptown AC to get more pro playing time in NISA.
This year's combine will be held from Dec. 3-5 at Titan Sports Complex in south Tulsa. The cost for registration is $265 if registered before Oct. 31 and flights and upon registration, participants will receive a link for hotel suggestions and travel offers. Each participant must have proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or have received a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of arrival.
Included in the cost of registration will be a jersey, access to all game footage from the combine and the opportunity to showcase in front of scouts from FC Tulsa and other professional soccer clubs. Registration for the combine is now open, but the early bird price will expire on October 31.
