Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
SHREVEPORT, La. - The Shreveport-Bossier Captains have scheduled their 2010 open tryouts for Saturday, May 1, at 10 a.m. at Fair Grounds Field. The tryout will be conducted by Captains coaches and some players. At least one tryout participant will receive an invitation to spring training with the club, which begins May 2.
Last season, the Captains invited three players to spring training from the open tryout, and eventually signed one, pitcher Jason Herman. The righty joined the Captains late in the season and did not allow a run in eight innings of relief work. Herman is back with the Captains again in 2010.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., costs $25 and includes a Captains T-shirt. Participants must bring all of their own gear.
The Shreveport-Bossier Captains open the 2010 season in Fort Worth on May 13, and will be on the road for the first series of the year. The home opener is a day-night doubleheader against Pensacola on Tuesday May 18. All games will be broadcast on ESPN Radio, KRMD-1340 AM as well as streaming live on supertalk1340.com. For information on tickets, promotions, advertising, and other opportunities with the Captains, check out the team's Web site at www.sbcaptains.com, or call the Fair Grounds Field office at (318) 636-5555.
