Opening Day is almost here! The Kalamazoo Kings are gearing up for the start of another great season of Frontier League Baseball. Here are a few of the fun and exciting events are planned for this year!

Free Fan Open House and Media Day

Get ready for baseball season with a visit to the Kalamazoo Kings pre-season open house at Homer Stryker Field on Saturday, May 17, 2003 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Get a sneak peak at the 2003 team and the changes made to the ballpark during the off-season.

The Kings take batting practice on field from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. and coaches and players will meet with fans and sign autographs from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Other events and activities planned include guided tours of the Kings Clubhouse and Office Facilities, dunk tank, and a free foam finger for all kids in attendance. Members of the local media are also invited to meet with players and coaches for interviews from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Also at the open house...stock up on Kalamazoo Kings merchandise before the seasons begins with great sales on 2002 merchandise and see what new items are available for 2003! Show everyone in town that you are a Kings fan!

Hit the Road to Cheer for Your Kings

The Kalamazoo Kings have 2 special trips planned for our baseball fans! Show the team they have great fans at home and on the road! Contact the Kings office to register for the trips. The registration information is also available on our website at www.kalamazookings.com.

Road Trip #1 - Kalamazoo Kings vs. Kenosha Mammoths (Kenosha, Wisconsin) Saturday, June 21 – Sunday, June 22 Depart at 1:00 p.m. on June 21

The trip includes Saturday night lodging at the Days Inn, all day pass to the Action Territory Family Park for mini-golf and go-kart rides on Sunday afternoon and admission to the Kings vs. Mammoths game on Saturday and Sunday evenings. The bus departs at 1:00 p.m. on the 21st from the parking lot at Homer Stryker Field and returns after the game on the 22nd. The cost of the trip is $105, which includes bus, double occupancy lodging and planned activities. Deadline for registration is May 27, 2003.

Road Trip #2 - Kalamazoo Kings vs. Evansville Otters (Evansville, Indiana) Friday, July 18 – Saturday, July 19 Depart at 11:00 a.m. on July 18

The second Kings road trip is Friday, July 18 through Saturday, July 19 to Evansville, Indiana where the Kings will take on the Evansville Otters at historic Bosse Field. Bosse Field opened in 1915 & is the third oldest ballpark used for professional baseball on a regular basis. It was also the primary ballpark used in filming the 1991 hit movie "A League of Their Own". The trip includes Friday night lodging at Casino Aztar in Downtown Evansville, tickets for the Kings vs. Otters game on Friday and Saturday evenings and a visit to the Mesker Zoo on Saturday afternoon. The bus departs at 11:00 a.m. on the 18th from the parking lot of Homer Stryker Field and returns after the game on the 19th. The cost of the trip is $115, which includes bus, double occupancy lodging and planned activities. Deadline for registration is June 20.

Road trips subject to change/cancellation.

All minors (under age 18) must be accompanied by an adult.

And Don't Forget...the Kings Home Opener is Friday, May 23, 2003. It's a rematch of the 2002 playoffs as the Kings take on league rival the Washington Wild Things. Game time is 6:35 p.m. at Homer Stryker Field with free magnet schedules to the first 1,000 fans through the gate (courtesy of Henderson Glass) and a fabulous fireworks show after the game!
