
Omaha Vipers Sign Defensive Duo

(Omaha) - The Omaha Vipers added two defenders today to the roster, strengthening the backline as the roster fills up. Signed today:
IMBRAHIM KANTE - is a 6'3" defender from Bamako, Mali. Kante made two appearances as a rookie in 2003 with New England Revolution of Major League Soccer, before moving on to Milwaukee Wave United of the USL A-League in 2004.He played several seasons of indoor soccer with Baltimore Blast, the Kansas City Comets and the St. Louis Steamers of the Major Indoor Soccer League before signing with Crystal Palace Baltimore of the USL Second Division in in 2007. He scored Baltimore's first ever professional goal, a thunderbolt free kick from the edge of the box in a pre-season friendly. Kante signed to play with Cleveland City Stars in their inaugural season in the USL First Division on April 20, 2009. Last season he played for league champions - LaRaZa of Monterrey, Mexico.
TIJANI AYEGBUSI - is a 6'2" defender from Ligos, Nigeria. 2008-09: Set career highs with four goals, 10 points and 28 blocks for the Rockford Rampage. Named to All-NISL Second Team. Career Highlights: 2004-05: Made his indoor debut with the Chicago Storm where he had 17 blocks and three assists in 28 games. 2005-06: Had 11 blocks and an assist in 28 games for Chicago. 2006-07: Traded along with Anthony Maher from Chicago to the Milwaukee Wave for Randy Soderman and Alen Osmanovic just before the season. He had 25 blocks and three assists in 27 games. 2007-08: After three and a half seasons without a goal, he tallied his first against the California Cougars. Also had 21 blocks and three assists for the Milwaukee Wave in 29 games.
The Omaha Vipers are the MISL's newest franchise and will begin play November 21, 2010 vs. Missouri (Kansas City) Comets at 3:05pm at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Season tickets are now on-sale at 402.932.3335 or on-line at www.omahavipers.com . The 12 game package can be purchased for $96 up to $216. A twenty-five dollar (per ticket) deposit will hold your tickets until November 1st.
