Vipers to Play Last Regular Season Home Game Against Second Place Wave

(OMAHA) - Coach Marcello Fontana takes on his old coach, Keith Tozier and his old team, the Milwaukee Wave for the last two games of the year - one home, one away - and the stakes are the high. The last playoff position. The last regular season home game takes place tomorrow (FRI, MAR. 4) at 7:05pm at the Civic Auditorium. The Omaha Vipers and the Missouri Comets are tied at 7.5 games out of 1st place. Milwaukee is 2 games behind Baltimore, in the lead. Missouri has Chicago and Baltimore left to play. The Omaha Vipers have to play Milwaukee twice. Chicago behind 101/2 games behind could play spoiler but has no chance at a playoff berth. According to MISL regulations, in the event that two or more teams have identical win-loss percentages during or at the end of the regular season then the following tie-breaking procedures shall be used:

1. The team having the best win-lost percentage in the regular season games played with the team or teams with which it is tied shall prevail: if still tied, then

2. The team having the best "points for" minus (-) "points against" recorded in the regular season games played between the teams tied shall prevail; if still tied, then

3. The team having the best winning percentage in regular season games played within its division (if applicable); if still tied; then

4. The team having the best "points for" minus (-) "points against" recorded in regular season games played within its division (if applicable); if still tied; then

5. The team having the best winning percentage in regular season games played within its conference (if applicable); if still tied; then

6. The team having the best "points for" minus (-) "points against" recorded in regular season games played within its conference (if applicable); if still tied; then

7. The team having the best overall "goals for" minus (-) "goals against" in all regular season games played shall prevail; if still tied, then

8. The team having the most points scored in all regular season games shall prevail: if still tied, then

9. A flip of coin for situation involving two teams, or the drawing of lots should more than two teams be tied. In situations involving teams from different divisions, then tiebreakers 3 and 4 shall not apply.

IN other words, the Vipers and Comets destinies are intertwined over the next 2 weeks. Stay tuned for the outcome!

Tickets for tomorrow night's game at the Civic are still available through TicketMaster, at the Qwest Box Office or at the Civic prior to the game starting at $9.00.

The Omaha Vipers are a franchise of the MISL and play all home games at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Following tomorrow night's game at the Civic, the last regular season game is on Sunday, March 13th at 3:00pm against the Milwaukee Wave in Milwaukee.
