Omaha Lancers Sign Chase Bradley to Tender

March 19, 2018 - United States Hockey League (USHL) News Release

The Omaha Lancers announced Monday the signing of Chase Bradley to a USHL tender agreement for the 2018-19 season.

Omaha's signing of Bradley marks the first time the team has tendered a player since 2016, when the Lancers tendered Jack Randl. The USHL tender process allows teams to sign a player prior to the USHL Phase I Draft in exchange for a first or second-round pick.

Now in its seventh year, the USHL tender process allows teams to sign up to two 2002 birth year players prior to the 2018 USHL Phase I Draft, which takes place on May 7.

Bradley's signing will take the place of Omaha's first-round pick in the 2018 USHL Phase I Draft. If the Lancers tender a second player, that signing would take the place of a second-round selection in the USHL Phase I Draft. The final day for USHL teams to sign a tender is Sunday, May 6, 2018. Each tendered player will be on their respective team's roster the next season and play at least 55% of the team's regular season games.

"We feel that Chase is an elite player in his birth year and that tendering him was the only way we could secure his USHL rights," said Omaha Lancers head coach David Wilkie.

Bradley, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, is currently playing with the New Jersey Colonials 16U and 18U. Between the two teams, Bradley has played in 18 games and recorded 14 points (8G, 6A).

The highly skilled forward is excited to start his journey in the USHL with the Lancers.

"I'm excited to meet the players, play in front of the fans and to continue my hockey career here with Omaha," Bradley said.

Not only is Bradley a highly skilled forward, Chase also brings the size and speed that the Lancers are looking for on the ice.

"He brings good size, skill, finishing ability and plays a heavy game," Wilkie said. "We are ecstatic that Chase and his family chose the Omaha Lancers to further his young hockey career and look forward to him wearing the Lancer logo next season."

"I know he's a hard coach, but I know he'll turn me into a better player and person than I am right now," Bradley said of Wilkie. "I'm excited for that, and to take a step forward."

Bradley is committed to play Division 1 college hockey at Northeastern University.

"I loved everything about it [Northeastern]. The staff, the type of play, the facility, the campus. It was awesome. I love everything about it."

Bradley is the sixth player to be tendered by Omaha since the start of the USHL tender process, joining Ryan Tait (2012), Jake Henderson (2013), Hank Crone (2014), Brannon McManus and Randl (2016).

Bradley is the second player to tender with a USHL team in 2018. Defenseman Ruben Rafkin was tendered in January by the Tri-City Storm.
