Fargo Force News Release
FARGO, ND - Former Fargo Force defenseman and captain Neal Goff has signed an amateur try-out contract with the San Antonio Rampage following the end of his collegiate career. San Antonio is the AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche.
Goff, a Stillwater, Minnesota native, played college hockey at Western Michigan University for the last four seasons. The defender scored 22 points (8-14-22) in 133 games for the Broncos.
Originally a fourth-round draft pick of the Force in 2009, Goff played three seasons in Fargo from 2011-2014. He served as captain during his final season in 2013-14. Goff tallied 24 points (9-15-24) in 147 career games with the Force.
"I'm very excited to begin my pro career in San Antonio," said Goff in a press release from WMU Athletics. "It just makes me think of how lucky I am to have had such an incredible school to go to and play for, and an outstanding coach in Coach Murray. He helped me develop so much as a player and a person. It also makes me think about my family and how many sacrifices they've made to support me over the years."
Goff will be the second Force alumnus to play for San Antonio this season. Dominic Toninato (12-13) played 31 games for the Rampage this season before being called up to Colorado in the NHL.
