AMARILLO, TX - Ahead of his first full season with the Amarillo Bulls, defenseman Oliver Bezick has made his decision to play Division I College Hockey next season.

The Bulls announced, today, that Bezick, a former affiliate player for the club during the 2018-2019 season, announced his commitment to continuing his hockey career while pursuing higher education as a member of the Michigan Tech Huskies.

The Huskies, who play in the NCAA Division I's Western Collegiate Hockey Association, will welcome Bezick to a roster that already holds a former Bulls player, Brendan Datema, who enters his freshman season in 2019-2020.

Last season, Bezick made two appearances during the February matchup between the Bulls and the Odessa Jackalopes. The remainder of the season saw Bezick crafting a standout season for HoneyBaked U18 program in the High Performance Hockey League.

"It was an easy decision to commit to Michigan Tech," said Bezick. "I am really excited to join the hockey program and become a student there. I fell in love with the campus and the city of Houghton on my visit this past summer. The main reasons I chose Michigan Tech are that the school have a very strong academic program suited to my interests, and Coach Shawhan is an amazing coach with a history of developing great players. With all that said, I cannot wait to become a Husky."

Bulls Head Coach Rocky Russo showed his appreciation for Bezick's abilities and potential in Division I.

"We are very proud of Oliver for his commitment to Michigan Tech," said Russo. "This is the second year in a row that we've had one of our defenseman move on to their program. Their coaching staff is excellent at developing and moving players on to the pro level and we think Oliver will have a tremendous experience there. Congratulations to Oliver and his family for this outstanding opportunity."

The Bulls will begin their 2019-2020 campaign, which is the club's 10th anniversary season, on September 16 in Topeka, KS and will return to Amarillo for the home opener against Shreveport on September 27. For more information visit amarillobulls.com or call (806) 242-1122.
