Ohio Valley Greyhounds News Release

WHEELING, WV – The Ohio Valley Greyhounds of the United Indoor Football Association are proud to announce the signing of Paul Okumu (6-0, 239, San Jose State).

Okumu starred as a linebacker for the Spartans in 2002 and 2003, starting both years. Following a junior season that saw him rack up 48 tackles, Paul amassed 74 tackles his senior season, good for 3rd on the team. Paul's big-game mentality made him fierce against the nation's toughest teams. Against Florida on August 30th of 2003, Paul garnered 10 tackles, a game high among the Spartans and Gators. A week later at Stanford, Okumu was up to the task again, recording 12 tackles on the day. Paul also tallied 7 tackles against Ohio State in 2002.

A ju-co transfer, Okumu was a standout linebacker for the Mt. San Antonio (Ca.) Mounties of the Mission Conference. He was a First-Team All-Mission Conference selection in 2000, leading the Mounties to a 9-2 record and a co-championship in the Mission Conference Northern Division.

Paul is a native of Ontario, California, where he was a standout athlete for Ontario High School.
