Oke to Represent United States in 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship

Saginaw, MI. - USA Hockey announced Sunday (Aug 7) Spirit goaltender Andrew Oke will be competing in the rescheduled 2022 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship from August 9 - August 20, 2022 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Oke, 18, starred in his first season with the Spirit, playing 1,931 minutes in net, the most for any Spirit rookie goaltender since Mike Brown set the franchise record during the inaugural season in 2002-03 with 2,185. His 13 wins was the second most for a rookie goaltender in team history behind only Ryan Daniels' 16 during the 2005-06 season.
The Shelby Township, Michigan native was invited to Detroit Red Wings Development Camp as a free agent after being the highest rated OHL goaltender in the 2022 NHL Draft by NHL Central Scouting.
Oke is the third Spirit player in team history to represent Team USA at the World Junior Championship joining Brandon Saad in 2012 and Vincent Trocheck, who won the gold medal with Team USA in 2013.
Team USA opens the tournament in its first preliminary game Aug. 9 at Rogers Place with faceoff set for 10:00 p.m. ET. All USA games will be broadcast on NHL Network on television in the United States (NHL Network Channel Finder) and on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio Ch. 91.
