Tulsa Oilers News Release
Records: Oilers are 19-17-3 with 41 points in fourth place in the Northwest Division. Corpus Christi is 15-22-2 for 32 points in fourth place in the Southeast Division.
Season Series: This is the first and only meeting of the regular season between these two teams.
Seeking Six: The Oilers have put their early season home ice woes behind them and have reeled off five straight wins on home ice. Tulsa is now 9-7-2 at home.
Struggling To Score: Corpus Christi comes into tonight's game having been shut out in its last four games. The scoreless streak has reached 242:45. The last win for Corpus Christi was a 6-4 win over Wichita on January 20th.
Missing In Action: The Oilers will be without Shawn Futers and Curtis Voth tonight, both serving CHL suspensions stemming from the game on January 27th against Memphis. Because they are serving league suspensions, the Oilers can only suit up 14 skaters and two goaltenders, instead of the usual 16 skaters and two goaltenders.
Honors Again: For the second straight week and the third week this season, the Oilers have the Oakley Player of the Week. Jim Dahl captured the honor last week with five goals and four assists for nine points in three games. Last Jaroslav Cesky was the Oakley CHL Player of the week (he had also won the award the week of December 18).
Streaking: Dahl's exploits last week stretched his goal scoring streak to seven games. He has scored 11 goals in that stretch. Dahl also leads all CHL rookies in scoring and in goals with 25 goals and 25 assists for 50 points.
Next Up: The Oilers play in Odessa on Friday at 7 p.m. in a game that can be heard on KMMY FM 97.1. The next home game is Saturday night at 7:35 against the Oklahoma City Blazers. Next Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. is the Tulsa Public Schools presented in part by U.S. Cellular and the Oklahoma Lottery.
