Oilers Parent Club in Action Tonight

Hockey season is here.

While the Tulsa Oilers don't officially open training camp until player physicals on Sunday October 3rd, their parent team, the Colorado Avalanche plays its first National Hockey League preseason game tonight (Tuesday). Colorado visits the St. Louis Blues at 7 p.m. Colorado starts its regular season at home on Thursday October 7 against the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.

The Oilers announced on September 2nd they are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the Avalanche and the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League. Lake Erie starts its regular season on Friday October 8 at home against the Syracuse Crunch. The Oilers play a series of two exhibition games against the Wichita Thunder, in Wichita on October 8th and at the Oilers Ice Center (64th and Mingo) on Saturday October 9th at 7 p.m.

The Oilers had the second highest point total increase in the CHL last season under Bruce Ramsay, who was in his first season with the Oilers. They will have 33 home games at the BOK Center in the 2010-11 season, starting on Friday October 15th against the Wichita.
