
OHL Calls on Spirit's Brodie for ADT Canada-Russia Challenge

(Saginaw, MI) The Ontario Hockey League announced the roster today for the 2008 ADT Canada-Russia Challenge. Saginaw Spirit defenseman T.J. Brodie was named to the squad, and will play along side other OHL'ers against the Russian national team on November 20th, 2008 in Guelph, Ontario. A second set of OHL players will take on Team Russia on November 24th, 2008 in St. Catherines, Ontario.
"We are very happy for T.J.," stated Spirit Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach Todd Watson, "This was well deserved and I know that he will be a valuable asset to Team OHL."
The annual event plays a key role in the selection process of Canada's World Junior Hockey Championship team, which is currently preparing to compete for its fifth consecutive gold medal. The international tournament takes place in January 2009 in Ottawa, ON.
Brodie is a third year veteran of the Spirit, having earned 6 goals and 36 assists in 99 games. In 11 games this season he has scored 2 goals and 6 assists, and has posted a plus-4. The 1990-born defenseman is a native of Dresden, Ontario.
Brodie was selected in the fourth round, 114th overall, by the Calgary Flames in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
