Ohio Valley Ice Cats News Release

A national search is under way for the first Head Coach of the new Ohio Valley Ice Cats pro hockey club.

Ads appeared this weekend in national industry publications and web sites to find the best possible candidate to lead the Athens-based franchise in the new International Independent Hockey League.

The ads also indicated that the Ice Cats hope to have a Head Coach hired by Oct. 22. They are offering a salary range of $300 to $600 weekly, depending on experience.

The ads are asking for the following: "Pro player experience last season and ready to lace them up one more year at the A-level while teaching young players making an average of $500 monthly with Ohio Valley Ice Cats. Team is located on the beautiful campus of Ohio University where a successful club hockey college team has been a national powerhouse with a sellout crowd atmosphere. We want a personable individual able to get involved in the community and become a fan favorite for many years to come while growing with our organization. Position could lead to General Manager role. Prior sales experience or ability to sell advertising would give you a huge advantage over other candidates. Position will be filled by Oct. 22, 2003."

The new pro club will play at the bottom level of the minor league hockey ladder with a 20-game home schedule at Bird Arena. Opening night is Saturday, Dec. 5 and tickets are expected to go on sale to the public by Oct. 18.

Anyone interested in working for the new club in a sales or marketing capacity can contact the IIHL office at (810) 249-7351. Host families are also needed to house pro players.
