PORT HURON, MI- The Port Huron Beacons are excited to announce the arrival of Goldie Goldthorpe to McMorran Arena for the December 10th weekend.

Goldthorpe was portrayed in the classic movie "Slapshot" as "Olgie Oglethorpe." He is most noted for holding numerous penalty records and having quite the temper.

"This young man has had a very trying rookie season, with the litigation, the notoriety, his subsequent deportation to Canada and that country's refusal to accept him, I guess that's more than most 21-year-olds can handle. Number six, Ogie Oglethorpe." - Quote from the 1977 movie "Slapshot" Goldthorpe played in several leagues including the WHA, AHL, IHL, SHL and WHL totaling 16 teams in his eight-year career in hockey. His best season as a professional came in his first year when he compiled 20 goals, 26 assists for 46 points and 285 PIM.

December 11th is the game that we're all anticipating however he will be on hand for all games that weekend (December 10th, 11th and 12th).

Fans of all ages can come and meet the legend in his own right. December 11th he will be available at the game signing autographs for any and all who know and love this legend.
