Florida Tropics SC News Release
ST. LOUIS - Five straight goals in the second was still not enough for the Florida Tropics SC to get its first road win of the Major Arena Soccer League season as the St. Louis Ambush rallied for a 10-9 overtime triumph Sunday.
The Tropics got three goals from Andre Braitwaite, who now has 10 goals in seven games since being acquired in a trade with Utica in mid-January. Max Touloute had a pair, and Florida got single scores from Matt Clare, Victor Parreiras, Antonio Manfut and Ricardo Diegues.
Florida erased a 4-1 second quarter deficit with a five-goal barrage in just under eight minutes to take a 6-5 lead to intermission, and the teams were tied 8-8 heading into the final 15 minutes.
The Tropics have not won on the road this year in eight starts, and are winless in 11 straight on the road going back to last February. Florida was 0-for-3 on the power play, including a man advantage in the final two minutes of the fourth. Its best scoring chance came inside the final 30 seconds of regulation when Diegues hit the crossbar.
J.T. Stinson got the game winner 4:55 into the extra period as St. Louis improved to 9-9. The Tropics are 0-3 in their three years in the league in overtime games.
Florida, 4-12, will stay on the road next weekend when they make their first trip to the Silver Spurs Arena to meet the Orlando SeaWolves, before returning to the RP Funding Center for a Sunday matinee, March 10, against the Kansas City Comets.
